May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to shedding light on the importance of mental wellness and the so many ways we can nurture it. This year, we are thrilled to introduce our "Movement is Medicine" campaign.

Give the Gift of Movement: ONE FREE CLASS FOR YOUR FRIENDS

From now until the end of the month, invite a friend to join you at Backyard by having them fill out the form below, and they will receive ONE FREE CLASS to take with you!

There’s no limit to the number of friends you can invite, so spread the word about the importance of movement, connection, and mental health!


The Social Element: Moving with a Friend

While movement alone offers numerous mental health benefits, these effects are amplified when shared with a friend. Social connections play a crucial role in emotional health, and exercising with a partner can enhance these benefits.

Here are a few reasons why moving with a friend is even more beneficial:

  • Increased Motivation: Having a workout buddy can boost your motivation and commitment. You're more likely to stick to your exercise routine when someone else is counting on you.

  • Emotional Support: Exercising with a friend provides a platform for emotional support. We all need a hype buddy, a high-five or an LFG sometimes, are we right?

  • Enhanced Enjoyment: When you team up for a workout, exercise transforms into FUN! Shared goals and a dash of friendly rivalry make every sweat session much better.

  • Accountability: Circling back to that hype buddy...having someone there to give you a nudge in sticking to your routine and go the extra mile (sometimes literally) is always helpful!

Come out & celebrate Backyard’s grand opening in our new home (5 & 15 Necco St.) with a community run starting at 8am on Saturday May 10th!

We’ll be meeting at lululemon on Seaport Blvd at 8am for a 4-mile party paced route that will finish at Backyard! Feel free to drop a bag & change of clothes off at Backyard (5 Necco St) prior to run club. Secure lockers will be available, and there’ll be an option to shower post-run.

Grand Opening Celebration

What a week it’s already been over at 5 & 15 Necco. We could not have done it without all of you! Now it’s time to mark your calendars because we are having a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, May 10th!

There will be pop-up vendors, team teachings with a live DJ, and a special Run Club event in collaboration with lululemon. Members - you will get your locked-in t-shirt and lock to put on our fence!

If you’ve never been, this is the perfect opportunity to explore our new space, meet our team, and connect with our community!

The countdown to the Boston Marathon is officially on. To the runners, we can’t wait to root you on from our Backyard cheer station on the corner of Comm Ave and Hammond St (on your left)!

The more the merrier! Use 333 Commonwealth Ave, Newton Centre, MA 02459; that’ll put you in the corner on the left side of the race! Come hang with us for a little...or for the whole day!
